Demolition Syngenta High-Rise Building, Basel, Switzerland

Projekt adatok

Helyszín: Basel, Svájc

Demolition of the 54 m high Syngenta headquarters in the centre of Basel, directly adjacent to the corporate campus and in close proximity to the highly frequented Schwarzwaldallee and Badischen Bahnhof

Projekt követelmények

  • Demolition with small demolition equipment; due to the directly adjacent buildings and required separation of materials and contaminants, demolition operations using large excavators was not possible
  • Protection of the surrounding area and construction site team from demolition emissions, falling objects and falling
  • Very high safety requirements of the client

I am very impressed with the PERI solution. At first, I was sceptical regarding safety and the progress of the demolition work in the high-rise building. Through the protection provided by the RCS Climbing Protection Panel, however, interesting and relaxed working conditions without risk is possible. In addition, we could climb much more efficiently than originally planned. As a result of this, and through the possibility of simultaneous execution of the demolition and disposal work, we could achieve a reduction in the planned schedule for the demolition work.

PERI megoldások

  • Jointly developed enclosure concept based on the RCS Rail Climbing System which allowed safe and efficient demolition work within the all-round and gap-free enclosure
  • The three-storey high enclosure system was completely covered on the outside with trapezoidal metal sheeting and prevented dirt, dust and noise from escaping
  • In synch with the demolition progress, the RCS Climbing Protection Panel was climbed downwards storey by storey on a weekly basis and thus completely securing the jobsite at all times
  • After the complete removal of an entire storey each time, the climbing protection elements were quickly lowered downwards one level by crane – rail-guided and always securely connected to the structure
  • Using the integrated working platforms, all work on the outer facade could be safely carried out
  • Delivery of the RCS Climbing Platforms, pre-assembled as frameworks, put together on the construction site in accordance with the PERI assembly plans to form protection panel units - competently supported by an experienced PERI supervisor
